Measuring your Ring Size with a Strip of Paper

This is one of the simplest and most reliable ways to measure your ring size at home. All you need is a thin strip of paper and a ruler or measuring tape. The method is quick, accurate, and does not require any special tools. By carefully wrapping and measuring the strip around your finger, you can find your correct ring size in just a few minutes.

  1. Wrap the paper or string around the base of your finger

    Take a Strip of Paper

Cut a thin strip of paper that is long enough to wrap comfortably around your finger. Make sure it is not too wide, as this can affect the accuracy of your measurement.

  2. Mark where the ends meet

    Wrap it around your Finger

Place the paper around the base of your finger, where you would normally wear your ring. It should sit snugly against the skin without being too tight or leaving gaps.

  3. Measure the length of the paper or string

    Mark the Point of Overlap

Hold the paper firmly in place and mark the exact point where the end overlaps with the rest of the strip. This mark represents the full circumference of your finger.

  4. Find your UK ring size using a ring size table

    Measure the Strip

Lay the marked paper flat on a ruler or measuring tape. Measure the length in millimetres (mm) from the start to the marked point. Use this measurement to find your ring size on our UK ring size table.

Important Tips

  • Don’t pull the paper tight — it should sit comfortably against your skin.
  • Keep the paper flat and not twisted.
  • Measure at least twice to confirm your result.
  • If you’re between sizes, choose the larger size for comfort.

Best Time to Measure

  • Measure at room temperature.
  • Avoid early morning, after exercise, or when your hands are cold, as fingers can swell or shrink.
